Three ages, one story

How the same book reads at 4, at 7 and at 10, and when to move your reader up.

A one-minute read

Every book in the library is told three ways, and the same title follows your child up.

At four

One sentence a page, read aloud, with the word being read lit up as it is spoken. The picture does most of the work and the child does the turning.

At seven

Chapters, with art on the page and the text under it. Narration is a tap away.

At ten

The full text, set for a reader who no longer needs the pictures to carry the story.

When to move up

When the books at one age are being finished in a sitting, try the next age for a week. The age lives in your child’s space, in your parent space: change it and the shelf changes with it, same books, next telling.
